GreenLand Joins the Green Jobs Alliance to Drive Sustainable Territorial Development
At GreenLand, sustainability only makes sense when it translates into actions that create well-being and equal opportunities in the communities and regions where we operate. In line with this commitment, we have formally joined the Green Jobs Alliance: An Alliance for Talent, an international cooperation initiative co-funded by the European Union that will promote inclusive employability and workforce transition across Colombia over the next 42 months.
Supported by the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy, the program brings together the efforts of the GreenLand Foundation alongside seven other corporate foundations and social organizations working across 28 municipalities in the departments of Antioquia, Caldas, and Valle del Cauca.
The launch event for the Caldas region was attended by François Roudié, Ambassador of the European Union to Colombia, as well as representatives from the public sector, business associations, and civil society organizations.

Through the GreenLand Foundation, we are leading the implementation of the initiative in the municipalities of Manizales, Neira, and Aranzazu, where part of our agro-industrial operations are located. The Alliance will also be implemented in the Urabá region, where the official launch is scheduled for the second half of the year.
Our primary goal in these territories is to strengthen the technical and socio-emotional skills of local talent, connecting people more effectively with the evolving demands of a sustainable economy.
“At GreenLand, we believe sustainability must translate into equal opportunities for people. That is why we are fully committed to this alliance and to working together to connect more people with training and decent employment opportunities, helping ensure that development and transformation in our territories endure over time,” said Víctor Manuel Henríquez Restrepo, CEO of the holding company.
The Green Jobs Alliance has established a clear and auditable implementation roadmap, with ambitious targets designed to generate meaningful impact across participating regions:
- 2,000 people receiving comprehensive workforce training, combining life skills and technical competencies.
- 1,500 labor competency certifications.
- 1,100 successful job placements in the formal labor market.
- At least 415 sustainable jobs with retention periods exceeding six months.
- 100 companies engaged through inclusive hiring agreements.

To help remove barriers to formal employment, the initiative will focus on three key areas: improving the efficiency of job-search processes, increasing access to short-term employment opportunities, and enhancing overall accessibility through the development of sector-specific guides and labor market studies.
Training and job placement efforts will be concentrated on sectors that are critical to sustainable development, including sustainable agriculture, eco-efficient agroindustry, green infrastructure, and ecological restoration.

The program will also prioritize the productive inclusion of vulnerable populations, including young people seeking their first employment opportunity, women, people with disabilities, victims of armed conflict, and individuals undergoing social reintegration processes.
Through our participation in this multi-stakeholder alliance, we reaffirm our belief that agro-industrial competitiveness and human development must advance together, fostering long-term partnerships that strengthen the social and economic fabric of Colombia’s regions.
